The Squirmy Wormy is a versatile fly pattern designed to mimic the movement of a live worm. I have been using Squirmy Worms in the winter for years and it should certainly be in your box this season.

Throughout the winter months, the Squirmy Wormy’s action attracts trout. They are especially good in high water after a rainstorm. However, I will go to a Squirmy Worm when everything else slows down.
The pattern should be made on a size #10 or #12 hook. Some should be made on a jig hook. I also like to have multiple colors available – pink, red and brown
I usually use a float indicator and cast them upstream. Let them float through to the stream channels just above the bottom. As they float down through the river, short twitches of the rod help it look like a struggling worm.
A must have fly for the days when everything else fails.
