From beginners learning the basics on our private lake to seasoned anglers seeking trophy trout on secluded waters, our mission is to share the joy, challenge, and beauty of fly fishing in a welcoming and inclusive environment. ABOUT OUR FOUNDER ALAN EDMUNDS
Sharing his passion for the sport of fly fishing and inspiring others to master the art with precision and respect for the outdoors
Alan Edmunds founded Edmunds Outfitters with a passion for sharing his lifelong love of fly fishing and the great outdoors. A Virginia native, Alan grew up exploring the state’s winding rivers and pristine mountain streams, developing both skill and respect for the waters that shaped his journey. Alan spent much of his youth exploring the Virginia mountain streams for brook trout and the Shenandoah River for smallmouth bass.
With decades of fishing experience and a natural gift for teaching, Alan is dedicated to helping others discover the art and serenity of fly fishing. His hands-on, patient approach has inspired countless anglers—from curious beginners to seasoned pros—to build confidence and appreciation for the sport. Before returning to Virginia, Alan and his wife Judy ran the Battenkill Inn in the Manchester Vermont area. Alan provided its many guests with guided fishing trips on the world famous Battenkill River chasing brown and brook trout.
Under his leadership, Edmunds Outfitters has become known for its friendly guides, expert instruction, and commitment to creating meaningful connections through nature.
